BIRD Automotive Division IFCE Corporation
Installation/Fitment. BIRD Automotive Bike Racks for most cars are designed to be installed with no cutting, no drilling, and no removal of bumpers or other fittings. Some car models require drilling two pencil sized holes in the spare tire well. About half our customers install the Rack themselves, with no special tools or torque wrenches required.
Because these sports cars and sporty cars are so low, the rear must be raised a few inches for under-car component installation. Thus, ramps, a floor jack with jackstands or a professional lift are required. The removable portion of the Rack can be assembled in any locaton using standard hand tools.
Initial installation/Fitment under the car usually requires 1-2 hours. Boxster/Cayman is the easiest and requires about 45 minutes. Assembly of the removable portion of the rack, a one-time job, requires about an hour. Thorough picture instructions in English are provided. For patent protection and competitive reasons, we do not put our Instructions on the web.
As part of our ordering process, we speak with each customer to help determine if this is a do-it-yourself project or if help is required. If needed, we can help locate a qualified installer/fitter.
